INTRODUCTION

The Cluster Foundation established this Hub of Hope to inspire Spinally Injured Persons (SIPs) in Kenya to change their self-perception and that of the society through Recreation Therapy activities that build their confidence and independence.

TCF EXPERIENCES

TCF currently inspires 56 SIPs every monthly: Wheelchair basketball, Wheelchair lawn tennis, ICE Skating, Kayaking, Horse riding, Swimming, Driving modified vehicles, Theatre Entertainment, Evening outings, Outdoor fun sessions, each with a motivational speaker Our largest ICE activity was traveling with 47 SIPs, their aides and Volunteers to Mombasa.

TCF SIP’s SUCCESS STORIES

Because of these experiences we have bountiful success stories: 10 are employed; 6 are self-employed; 11 enrolled to study, 7 drive themselves, 9 have become parents when they thought they could never be.

Michael said,

“TCF thank you. At times we may look so strong on the outside but God knows we need some words of encouragement from our peers. Just the reassurance that whatever you are facing, others are also going through the same and are not giving up. This is why I personally love being in TCF. We are together!!”

WHAT ARE WE OUT TO ACHIEVE?

80% of SIPs in Kenya die within 5 years after discharged due to a consistent sense of hopelessness. This is what inspired TCF’s entry point with Recreational Therapy for SIPs to reduce the fatality in our country and to uplift the quality of life for SIPs. TCF’s responsibility is to have more SIPs engage economically and socially in an inclusive society. TCF's bigger picture is to become the Hub of Hope in every County
